for July 2012
31, 2012 (11:00 p.m.)
It was just last Thursday when everybody was completely
avoiding the market already and foreign funds did nothing but sell
everything in the market. Now, after just 3 trading days, the psychology
has completely reversed by 180 degrees. Everybody is now bidding up
prices and foreign funds suddenly became net buyers by almost P900
million. It pays to be a contrarian in this market.
Rumors are circulating that TDY will now be the holding
company of El Kapitan. Congratulations to all those who have this stock!
I can't quite understand GLO. It was very, very strong
exactly when the whole market was plunging but, now that the whole
market became very strong, it suddenly became very weak. My conspiracy
theory: insiders propped up the stock because they wanted to do a
private placement just like what they did with AC and ALI. The stock
suddenly plunged because talks for the private placement bogged down
when they learned that the income was a lot worse than expected. Don't
mind me, I'm just making up stories.

I hate this sideways to upward market. While we appear
to have turned the corner already with a low at 5116, we are forever
just grinding upwards. I reckon that we will stay like this forever
until the market collapses. Jackpots will be limited to the small cap
issues but looking for them is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Tough market indeed but there are still opportunities out there. You
simply need a magnifying glass to see them.
29, 2012 (9:00 p.m.)
I have to admit, I really thought that it was the end of
the world already. Who would have known that it would only take the
statement of one person to turn all the world markets around. Dow broke
above 13,000 and is now headed towards 14,000?
Despite the strong rally though, foreign funds were
still heavy sellers last Friday. Without the block sales, they were
actually net sellers by more than P700 million. I'm going to bet, once
the market breaks out above 5300, they would become net buyers again.
Contrary to what most people think, majority of foreign funds actually
behave like the rest of the market. They too sell at the lows and buy at
So, does this mean that people don't believe in ghosts?
26, 2012 (10:00 p.m.)
If I wasn't looking at what the Dow is doing right now,
I would confidently say that our market was about to plunge. Talk about
a very fickle-minded Dow.
TDY was the darling of the market today as people began
speculating on what will be announced in its special stockholders'
meeting by tomorrow. For the last few weeks, the stock has been acting
unusually strong and, obviously, there is something going on there. I
guess we will know by tomorrow what that something is. Rumor has it that
there is either a buy-out or a merger with Asia Brewery. The question
is, will the stock sell on the news?
25, 2012 (9:30 p.m.)
Will the sun finally rise in the PSE tomorrow?
Notice that ALI, ELI, FLI and RLC were very strong
today. This is because of speculation on the FTI project, which will be
bidded out on Aug 8. Stocks that have yet to rise but are also included
in the bidding are CPG and ROCK. If I'm not mistaken, there are no Henry
Sy listed stocks included in the bidding. SM Land is not listed.
The more bullish stock for me though is GLO. Why?
Because I have no idea why it is very strong. Just imagine what's going
to happen once everybody finds out why GLO is strong.
24, 2012 (11:00 p.m.)
A lot of people doing bargain-hunting today, especially
on the beaten down blue chip counter. Foreign funds were still net
sellers by P500 million today, in spite of the rally. Thus, it was the
locals who were buying. I wonder who's making the right call.
First Metro is at it again with his wild antics in PXP.
I really think that guy is on drugs.
Did anyone notice Accord short-selling 20 million shares
of ABA today? Wow! I'm pretty sure that wasn't a "naked short". The
question is, did he do a wise move by buying it back?
I really admire this trader from KingsPower, who is
selling ELI. He accumulates tons below while nobody is looking and, when
everybody starts noticing, he slowly gives it to everybody who wants it.
Nieves Securities are now in
search of people who would like to become stockbrokers. If you are
interested, kindly email me at

I guess part of the weakness of the market right now is
that people are scared of "ghosts". Well, below are the rates of return
of the market in the month of August for the last five years:
2007 - down
2008 - up 4.31%
2009 - up 3.07%
2010 - up 4.06%
2011 - down
I guess if
people anticipate the ghosts early enough, there won't be anyone left
who would sell in August but, if people are complacent in July, then,
ghosts would probably appear in August.
ACE has been
dropping non-stop eversince its peak at 6.07 last Jun 21, 2012. The
reason for the drop is because people are anticipating that stockholders
will sell their 250% stock dividend. The dividends became saleable last
Thursday. With the dividends already given, there's no more reason for
the stock to go higher. Will ACE go the way of EG or MRC?
Another stock I
found quite interesting yesterday was RLC. The stock was relatively
strong because ATR was aggressively buying it. Yesterday, he bought P100
million worth of the stock. Does he know something we don't?
19, 2012 (10:00 p.m.)
Despite Dow up, our market still continued to fall. The
PSEi has now decoupled from the US market. We are now behaving a lot
weaker than them. The private placements in AC, ALI and PGOLD are
For the first time in a very long time, I didn't trade
anything at all today. This can't be a good sign.
18, 2012 (4:30 p.m.)
After PGOLD and ALI, it was now AC's turn to do a
private placement. Could these insider sales be a sign that the market
is now toppish. There is definitely something not right about what
happened in the market today. While some may say that the fundamentals
are better here in the Philippines than in other parts of the world, the
market may have discounted that already as foreign funds have already
bought P32 billion worth of PSE stocks year to date.
17, 2012 (11:00 p.m.)
More than a week after the EO on mining
was released, the mining sector continued to be very weak. While some
may look oversold already in the short-term, I don't like how they are
behaving at all right now.
Another potential landmine right now is
the oil sector, particularly PXP and OV. PXP, from the way I see it, is
16, 2012 (11:30 p.m.)
All of a sudden, the market is suddenly going gaga over
Okada. First, there was RLC last Friday. Then, today, it was ELI. There
were also rumors that either JGS or AGI would join the party. I'm going
to bet, from this point on, anything that goes up will now have a spin
towards Okada. With the Entertainment City now just a few months away
from opening, BLOOM being the first to open, if I'm not mistaken, the
casino plays will forever now be on everybody's radars.
13, 2012 (12:30 a.m.)
First, there was the private placement on ALI yesterday
at 20.00. Then, today, there was the private placement on PGOLD at
26.00. Private placements are like IPOs. The only difference is, they
sell to a select group of people, unlike in an IPO wherein they sell to
a lot of people. But, the essence is basically the same - insider
selling! Now, why would insiders sell? Because valuations are just too
compelling not to.
I wonder if there were some front-runners in these two
placements. I see some heavy sellers by some brokers a day before the
private placements were announced. These same brokers were big buyers on
the day of the announcements. I would bet that some of these people had
inside info and short-sold their positions to make a quick buck.
Happy Friday the 13th Tsupiteros!
11, 2012 (12:00 a.m.)
News came out on BEL/LR and the stocks sold on the news.
News on the Mining EO came out and the mining stocks sold on the news.
News on MVP's acquisition of GMA came out and the stock sold on the
news. I sure hope the stocks which I'm holding now doesn't have any
With nothing much moving except for a handful of issues,
it suddenly became the Jerry Angping show once again.
Is there really something going on with LMG or was it
simply a case of the herd going where the flow is?
As for the PSEi, could we already have found the bottom

It's confirmed, Ho and Packer are now partners with BEL
and LR but why did the price drop? It's called, sell on the news.
The new game in town though are the Lolo stocks as
rumors are going around once again that the EO has already been signed.
Congratulations to all those who followed my recommendations on LC and
MA in my newsletter!
